Eric has worked for the last twelve years in merchandising and category management with in the Office Products industry, first at Corporate Express and then at Office Depot. Most recently, he has worked as a consultant to both B2B and B2C retail companies as a merchandising, marketing and product management expert. In addition, he has provided office products and product expertise to a number of investment firms. As a Merchant, Eric managed a number of different product categories including: ink and toner, paper, filing, note taking, storage boxes, printers and computers. In this capacity, Eric managed category sales in excess of $750 million per year, streamlined product assortments, developed private brand products and sourced products globally to grow sales, reduce costs and improve profitability. In addition, Eric grew sales by working directly with the sales force and by implementing improved ecommerce strategies that increased value added product sales.
Prior to Corporate Express, Eric worked for Arthur Anderson managing the development and deployment of a risk management software program designed to support Arthur Anderson’s risk management consulting service delivery. In this capacity, he managed the development, marketing, sales and implementation processes to sell and implement the product globally for Arthur Anderson.
In addition to his merchandising and product management roles, Eric also spent four years working in finance and accounting management with Boise Cascade Corporation. During his tenure, Eric provided financial leadership, analysis and project expertise to the sales and marketing team as well as supporting the implementation of an integrated sales, purchasing and warehouse management system utilized by Boise Cascade’s Building Materials Distribution Division.
In addition to his professional experience, Eric served six years as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps, and left with the rank of Captain.
Eric earned his Master of Business Administration from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and his Bachelor of Business Administration from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.
