My name is Kara Grano and I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. I studied Classical Civilization and Art History at Duquesne University where I earned my undergrad. I also obtained a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Pittsburgh the following year.
Prior to my current role as a business banker, I cut my teeth in the restaurant industry. I started working as a host at a local restaurant and worked my way up to the Bar Manager, I played an integral role in the success of our flagship location and our brand.
Upon moving to Colorado I learned that the job I was moving for had fallen through. I was then recruited by Enterprise Rent-a-Car and entered their management training program. It was there I learned the fundamentals of running a business while, problem solving, and customer service. I was looking for an experience that would allow me to have an outbound role in business development which is why I decided to leave Enterprise for ADP. It was there I learned the fundamentals of the sales process.
I was still looking for something that would meet my needs professionally as well as personally. This is when I decided to make the transition to First Citizens Bank.
I was very impressed by the commitment of FCB to building relationships with our clients and the community. I am able to use my skills in business development and customer service without feeling like my clients or myself are just a number. I am very happy to be part of an amazing banking team that always puts our clients first.
Outside of work I sit on the board of a local nonprofit called Period Kits, which combats period poverty in Colorado. I spend most of my time working on the development and fundraising aspects of the organization. Outside of work and volunteering, I love being outside enjoying nature, at a sporting event, or concert when things in the world are normal.
I look forward to continuing my career with First Citizens and hopefully end up retired with a cottage in Scotland with a few sheep and a pub to call my own.
Thank you for your time!
